Sound\Bridges Outreach Platform is a new HKNME initiative that will encourage young people to engage in contemporary music and interdisciplinary arts. The Platform consists of three programmes, including establishing a new music youth ensemble for aspiring musicians, a composer-in-residence scheme, and a school touring programme.
\
Schools Touring Programme will consist of interactive chamber music programmes designed to tour to less-privileged schools across Hong Kong, benefitting over 10,000 students (and many more via future digital platforms) through performances and workshops. Led by HKNME trombonist Ben Pelletier, HKNME and NME2 musicians will create engaging interdisciplinary content tailored to students of various age groups and abilities. This initiative will introduce students to the world of contemporary music and foster creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
\
NME2 will offer an intensive training program for up to six young Hong Kong musicians. Fellows will be exposed to the professional environment of an ensemble through hands-on work in HKNME's interdisciplinary productions. They will also participate in workshops on contemporary solo literature and chamber music, and perform together as an independent ensemble in at least two separate chamber recitals and five school productions.
\
Composer-in-Residence Scheme will provide an opportunity for an emerging composer to work with HKNME for a year. The selected candidate will be commissioned to write two new works, including a large-scale work for HKNME and a smaller piece for the NME2. These works will be performed in concerts and schools, as well as recorded for international release. The composer will work closely with HKNME musicians during the creative process, including in workshops, readings, and rehearsals. They will also be engaged with local schools to deliver workshops and talks.

$10,000 will fund one school concert or workshop
