Hong Kong New Music Ensemble joins forces with Opera Box to present the world premiere of CVMAE CAPRI, a new chamber opera by seventeen-year-old prodigy Aurelia Thorn. The program shines a spotlight on exceptional young female composers, showcasing two seldom-heard works by Lili Boulanger alongside selections from Fanny Mendelssohn’s exquisite Piano Trio.

Composer
Aurelia is a 17-year-old student at St Paul’s Girls’ School in London where she sings in the Paulina Voices choir and has composed music and written poetry for over three years.
For the past 3 years she has studied composition with Dr Bernard Hughes at school and with Dr Andrew Martin Smith from New York. She also attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in the US and the Sound and Music composition program in the UK.
Her compositions have been performed by the school choir in Winchester cathedral and in Belgium and for 2025-26 she is a Composition Fellow with the English National Opera (ENO) in London.
She began her first opera, CVMAE CAPRI, a year ago after she encountered Aeneas and Axel Munthe in her reading and wanted to show how they both seemed to ask similar questions. These questions - with no answers - started a creative evolution that have found a new structure in CVMAE CAPRI.
